Anjarle has emerged as a popular holiday destination for Mumbaikars wanting to take a short break from work. One of the most beautiful places in Konkan, Anjarle is just 20 kms away from Dapoli. The white sandy beach isn’t the only thing that draws tourists to this place. Anjarle is also famous for its ancient Ganesh Temple which stands on a cliff. The Kadywarcha Ganpati Temple is believed to have been built in AD 1150 using wooden pillars. It was renovated during the 18th century. Earlier devotees had to cross Jog River in a boat and then climb the hill to reach the temple. Now a bridge has been built so pilgrims can take their vehicle right up to the entrance of the temple.

Anjarle beach: What draws tourists to this beach near Dapoli in Maharashtra is its unspoilt beauty. There are plenty of homestays in Anjarle so finding accommodation will not be an issue.

The idol at Kadyawarcha Ganpati Temple is unique. Ganpati at this temple has a trunk curved towards right. This is unusual because Ganesh idols tend to have trunks curved towards the left. Devotees believe that Kadyawarcha Ganpati is a live deity who will come to their rescue whenever they are in trouble. You can reach the top of the temple through the right side. From there you will get a panoramic view of the coconut and betel nut plantations, blue sea and Suvarnadurg Fort. The pond in front of the temple has big turtles and fish. You can feed them if you want. In addition to the Ganpati Temple, Anjarle has a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Anjarle is famous for its Alphonso mangoes and cashew nuts. Mangoes are available from April to June.

Where to stay

There are no hotels or hostels at Anjarle, but that is hardly an issue. You will find plenty of homestays here. You will also get to relish the mouthwatering delicacies prepared by locals. People are friendly and helpful. If homestay isn’t your thing, you can stay at a hotel or beach resort at Murud, Karde, Dapoli, Harnai or Ladghar. These places are close to Anjarle.

How to reach Anjarle?

Anjarle is only about 20 kms from Dapoli near Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. From Dapoli you can take a bus, shared rickshaw or jeep to Anjarle. You can also hire a jeep or car.
