Hindu God: Hanuman
Hanuman also known as Maruthi, Anjaneya or Bajrangabali is a Hindu god. He is the epitome of devotion, righteousness, valor, strength, celibacy and loyalty. An ardent devotee of Lord Ram, Hanuman plays an important role in the epic Ramayana. When it was time for Rama to depart to his heavenly abode, Hanuman chose not to accompany him. He expressed his desire to remain on earth so that he could hear people chanting Rama’s name. Pleased with his devotion, Sita (Rama’s wife) granted him that wish and said that his images would be installed all over the country so that he could hear Rama’s name being chanted.
The Hindus believe that Hanuman is a chiranjeevi (immortal). If that is indeed so, he must be still alive today. There are numerous Hanuman temples all over India. In fact, there are more temples dedicated to Hanuman than any other deity. Devotees believe that Hanuman is the 11th avatar of Lord Shiva.
Why do Hindus worship a vanara (monkey)? Hinduism teaches devotees to find the God in anything and everything. A true Hindu sees no distinction between a man and a monkey or a living thing and non-living thing for that matter. So, Hindus worships stones, snakes, monkeys, trees, idols and even people.
Its really very informative.
