Velliyamkallu Heritage Park, Thrithala, Palakkad
The Heritage Park at Velliyamkallu in Thrithala, Palakkad district is a nice place to take your kids out in the evening. The park is extremely close to the recently built Velliamkallu bridge cum regulator and affords beautiful views of River Nila (aka Bharatapuzha).
Hundreds of people flock to the park every evening to enjoy the cool breeze coming from the river and soak themselves in the beauty of Velliamkallu. Most visitors are families or youngsters. The park has several swings and slides to keep your child entertained for hours. There are plenty of walkways too. Visitors can access the banks of the river from the park. A lot of youngsters engage in fishing here. Children also enjoy wading through the shallow waters of the river.
The park is open from 9 am to 6 pm. While there are several shady trees in the park, evenings are the best time to visit.
