The Malampuzha Dam and Gardens are a hugely popular one-day picnic destination in the Palakkad district of Kerala. This is the place where parents take their kids on a holiday. Schools in Palakkad and neighboring districts also organize one-day picnics to Malampuzha.
If you haven’t already taken your children to Malampuzha, now is the time to do it. Onam vacation has begun and Malampuzha is all decked up to receive the huge influx of visitors.
All the fountains in the garden are now functional. The toy train in the children’s park is also running smoothly. A variety of plants and flowers are expected to be brought to the garden for Onam.
The tourism council also plans to organize several cultural programs. These programs will be staged near the Memory Pillar inside the garden between 5 pm and 8 pm on all four days starting Utradam (September 13, 2016).
Another major attraction will be the beamer light show near the dam. The beamer light that is going to be installed near Malampuzha Dam Section office will have 12 lights of 16 colors. The lights will be visible from a distance of up to 3 kilometers. The waters of the dam will look dazzling in the light show and provide a novel experience for the visitors. The light show will be on all four days from September 13 to 17 after 6.30 pm.
